That was... tiring. It's my first finished digital painting (which means it's the first I think is good enough to be posted >_>;)... I had a lot of help from :icondianae:'s "Hanagumori" tutorial. :) Blah blah Fierce Deity/Kishin/Oni-not-Link from Zelda Majora's Mask.

Man. That is *quite* good. Once I downloaded it, I got to really see how much work you put into it. Even just by looking at the eyes, you can tell.

And I'm personally in awe because this is the kind of stuff I wish I could be doing, rather than the crappy pen/pencil stuff...

I do have a few questions though:

1. Are the flaws on his left cheek and forehead meant to be scars? Or falling strands of hair? Or something else...?

2. Is there any particular story behind this? My guess (going from the title) is that it's your take on the eponymous "Fierce Deity" before he/it was sealed inside the mask. I love when people "elaborate" on the Zelda world, so...

O and did I mention this is awesome?
:iconmistress-of-kain:
that is truely wonderfull!
I like the colouruses and the blind magic staring eyes, the stormclouds in the back make it all complete.
Instant fave!

But in the end, what choice did I have? -- Kain

Thank you very much! It took a lot of time, but I like the result since I usually work by detailing flat colours, whereas this time I "blocked" them : so it's closer to a traditional painting. But really, pencil is a great tool for detailed and textured works. :)

To answer your questions :
1. Yep, they're scars. :)
2. It's exactly that. ^^ I really love Zelda games, because the scenarii may seem VERY simple (and they are XD) but a lot of the story is left for the player to elaborate on it. :D

Thanks again! :D

Holy crap. The plural form of 'scenario' actually IS "scenarii". I learn something new every day.

In case it wasn't clear, I was speaking of MY crappy pen/pencil stuff, not anything you've done (which, by the way, is similarly awesome. I especially liked "Lord of the Court").

I feel the same way about Zelda games. The less *actual* plot, the better.

I'm really diggin' all of the small details in this piece!!! Every time I look, I find something new, like the faded scar tissue on his cheek and forehead, and the furrowed wrinkles in his brow. Lovely job on this piece. It's absolutely stunning.
